Lake Volta | About Ghana

It is the largest man-made lake in the world, and covers an area of about 8,515 hectares.

The Volta Basin covers about 45 percent of Ghana's total land surface.

Its northern edge has a height of between 150 to 215 meters above sea level.

To the north and west of the basin are the Gambaga and Konkori Scarps respectively which have an elevation of between 300 and 460 meters.

The Lake Volta, the Akosombo Dam, and the Volta basin offer great opportunities for tourist.

The lake offers cruising opportunities for tourist especially at the Dodi Islands.
