George Padmore Research Library | About Ghana

The library stores information about the black society of the Carribean, and people of African and Asian descent.

George Padmore (1902-1959), was a dedicated Pan Africanist and anti-colonialist.

He was very influential in the 20th century independence struggles.

The collection at the library includes archives on cultural, educational and political campaign groups, journals, newspapers, books, pamphlets, and publications by social and anti-racist organizations between the 1960 and 1990.

Major collections relate to the Caribbean Artists, the Black Education and Supplementary Schools, and the Black Parents Movements, the New Cross Massacre Campaign, the International Book Fair of Radical Black and Third World Books and the accompanying Book Fair Festivals, 1982-1995.
